Here at Exit Studios in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, we have always worked for a wide variety of clients across the design and media spectrums. Yes we have a great studio base here to do the work, but sometimes, we also work remotely on our travels. A great example here is where Exit were commissioned by BBC Scotland to create the new Mentorn Media Sunday morning debate show graphics for The Big Questions with presenter and broadcaster Nicky Campbell. Jill Robinson was the editor and having worked together many times, it was a great prospect to get the shout on this one. It was easy enough to travel from York to London to the Mentorn HQ, or even York to Glasgow. We found a few conference calls with the team worked very well indeed, and even making amends on the move at times whilst exhibiting with one of our client projects. More and more designers and media artists are working this way, making the most of their creative time and budgets requirements. It’s essential for many production companies and advertising agencies these days, and we feel we can accommodate that requirement just perfectly.
I recall once when I moved house from London to Epping, there were some panics on about; “oh Soho is so far away” and “will they ever find me in Essex”, never mind about now in Knaresborough. However Knaresborough is where the visual creative for both The Big Questions along with one of the BBC’s flagship shows Question Time were created. Is the North becoming more of a UK TV hub? We all know London will remain the media magnet but not only are The BBC based up in sunny Salford, but C4 is now taking up camp in Leeds very soon, so exciting times for us all we hope.
